Molly Hogg Antique Textiles

Molly first trained in the design of woven and constructed textiles prior to starting her business in Antique textiles from Africa and Asia. Travelling to source and collect antique textiles for more than thirty years Molly has focused on the textiles from India, Sri Lanka and the many islands of Indonesia as well as North and West Africa particularly Morocco, Nigeria and Ghana.

This website showcases many of the best examples of their kind now increasingly difficult to find in their countries of origin, not all of the collection is shown on this site there are many more pieces which deserve viewing. (By appointment at home in South London.)

A particular highlight of Molly’s career has been her discovery of Indian 18th C. hand painted cotton “trade cloths” in Sri Lanka. Previously overlooked many of these astoundingly beautiful fabrics are now held in important private and public Museum collections worldwide. Likewise buying in Morocco twenty years ago when a rare group of henna abstract veils and capes were first brought from the mountains to the souk in Marrakech, examples of these rare collections are for sale.

Molly has been a regular exhibitor at The Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair, Olympia Fine Arts Fair, Tribal Art London and The Hali Fair. Molly is also regularly asked to join these Fairs on their Standards committee in the vetting of African and Asian textiles.
